Overview<\/h2>\n

This interface allows server administrators to retrieve a list of database users, each users database, and which account owns each database user. The server administrator can use this interface to rename database users.<\/p>\n

Database users<\/h2>\n

This interface provides a table of all of the database users on the server.<\/p>\n

Click each column heading to sort the list by that column. Search for a particular user with the Search<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n

Rename a database user<\/h3>\n

To rename a database user, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n

    Click the pencil icon in the row that corresponds to the database user.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Enter the new name for the database user in the Rename to text box. <\/p>\n

    MySQL 5.6<\/p>\n

    MySQL version 5.6 limits the database username to 16 characters. The server uses the first nine characters of this limit for the database prefix. The database prefix uses the cPanel account\u2019s username and an underscore (_<\/code>). The server only applies the first eight characters of the cPanel account\u2019s username.<\/p>\n

    For example:<\/p>\n

    • A db_<\/code> database prefix allows MySQL usernames of up to 13 characters.<\/li>\n
    • An example_<\/code> database prefix allows MySQL usernames of up to eight characters.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n

      MySQL 5.7 and later<\/p>\n

      MySQL versions 5.7 and later limit the database username to 32 characters. The server uses the first nine characters of this limit for the database prefix. The database prefix uses the cPanel account\u2019s username and an underscore (_<\/code>). The server only applies the first eight characters of the cPanel account\u2019s username.<\/p>\n
