For example, you can use this feature to temporarily redirect visitors while you disable a website for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>When you configure a domain forwarder, the system assigns the next available address in the IP address pool as the forwarding IP address. After the system configures the forwarding IP address, you <strong>must<\/strong> properly configure the domain\u2019s DNS records. To do this, enter the forwarding IP address in the zone file\u2019s A record. Then, use this interface to redirect traffic from one domain to another.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Any server can host the forwarding domain. However, the domain\u2019s A record <strong>must<\/strong> point to the IP address of your domain forwarder.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>For permanent domain forwarding, read our <em>Park a Domain<\/em> interface documentation. For information about setting up aliases, read our <em>Aliases<\/em> interface documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"create-a-domain-forwarder\">Create a domain forwarder<\/h2>\n<p>To set up a domain forwarder, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <em>Click to Create<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Setup Forwards<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Domain<\/em> column, enter the domain whose visitors you wish to redirect.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Redirection URL<\/em> column, enter the domain or subdomain to which you wish to redirect visitors.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Save Map<\/em>. A confirmation message will appear.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"disable-domain-forwarding\">Disable domain forwarding<\/h2>\n<p>To disable domain forwarding, click <em>Click to remove domain forwarder<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"file-locations\">File locations<\/h2>\n<p>The system stores forwarding IP addresses in the <code>\/var\/cpanel\/domainfwdip<\/code> file, and it stores the forwarding map in the <code>\/var\/cpanel\/domainmap<\/code> file.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend that you use this interface to manage domain forwarding and do <strong>not<\/strong> edit these two files directly.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 82 through the latest version Version: 82 Overview This feature allows you to redirect one domain to another domain.
