You may wish to use this interface when you use custom DNS configurations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The system does <strong>not<\/strong> transfer custom DNS zone templates. When you transfer an account with WHM\u2019s <em>Transfer Tool<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Transfers &gt;&gt; Transfer Tool<\/em>), the system ignores these zone templates when it recreates the account on the destination server. You <strong>must<\/strong> recreate any custom DNS zones on the destination server after you transfer the account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"edit-templates\">Edit templates<\/h2>\n<p>To edit a template, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Click the template type that you wish to edit. The template will appear. You can choose from the following template types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><em>simple<\/em> \u2014 Edit the template for domains with <strong>only<\/strong> an A entry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>standard<\/em> \u2014 Edit the template for domains on a dedicated IP address, addon domains, or parked domains (aliases).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>standardvirtualftp<\/em> \u2014 Edit the template for domains on a shared IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Make the desired changes to the file.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For more information about the available template variables, read the Variables section below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Save<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"variables\">Variables<\/h3>\n<p>You can use the following variables within DNS zone template files:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><code>%cpversion%<\/code> \u2014 The version of cPanel &#038; WHM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%domain%<\/code> \u2014 The domain name.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%ttl%<\/code> \u2014 The domain\u2019s Time To Live (TTL).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nsttl%<\/code> \u2014 The nameserver\u2019s TTL.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%rpemail%<\/code> \u2014 The contact email address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%serial%<\/code> \u2014 The zone record\u2019s serial number.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameserver%<\/code> \u2014 The primary nameserver\u2019s hostname.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameserver2%<\/code> \u2014 The secondary nameserver\u2019s hostname.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameserver3%<\/code> \u2014 The tertiary nameserver\u2019s hostname.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameserver4%<\/code> \u2014 The quaternary nameserver\u2019s hostname.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameservera%<\/code> \u2014 The primary nameserver\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameservera2%<\/code> \u2014 The secondary nameserver\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameservera3%<\/code> \u2014 The tertiary nameserver\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%nameservera4%<\/code> \u2014 The quaternary nameserver\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%ip%<\/code> \u2014 The domain\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%ftpip%<\/code> \u2014 The domain\u2019s FTP server\u2019s IP address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><code>%maildomain%<\/code> \u2014 The hostname of the server that handles the domain\u2019s mail.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 86 through the latest version Version: 82 86 Overview This interface allows you to edit the templates that cPanel &#038; WHM uses to create DNS zone files for new domains.
