A DNS zone is an administrative space or portion of the domain name system. The records in that space direct traffic to the correct locations.<\/p>\n<p>The system creates zone files from a template. To edit the templates that the system uses to create zone files, use WHM\u2019s <em>Edit Zone Templates<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; DNS Functions &gt;&gt; Edit Zone Templates<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>When you add a domain to your server, WHM automatically configures its DNS zone. You can also use this interface to add DNS zones for remote domains.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>Exercise caution when you add a DNS zone. Incorrect DNS data can prevent a visitor\u2019s access to a domain.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"create-a-dns-zone\">Create a DNS zone<\/h2>\n<p>To add a DNS zone, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Under <em>Domain Selection<\/em>, enter the IP address in the <em>IPv4 Address<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter the domain name in the <em>Domain<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If you wish to associate the DNS zone with a specific domain, select that domain from the <em>Associate with Account<\/em> list. To search the list, enter a partial domain or username in the <em>Search<\/em> text box under the <em>Account Search<\/em> heading.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>You <strong>cannot<\/strong> add multiple DNS zones for a single domain.<\/li>\n<li>If an account appears in the <em>Account Selection<\/em> section, do <strong>not<\/strong> enter that domain in the <em>Domain<\/em> text box.
