For more information, read our How to Use Server Profiles documentation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>Select the <em>Enabled<\/em> checkbox to enable a specific service.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Select the <em>Monitor<\/em> checkbox to monitor a specific service in the cPanel interface.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>To monitor a service, you <strong>must<\/strong> first enable it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"tailwatch-drivers-in-the-tailwatchd-module\">TailWatch Drivers in the tailwatchd module<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><em>APNSPush<\/em> \u2014 This driver notifies iOS\u00ae devices when new mail arrives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>ApacheClientsOptimizer<\/em> \u2014 This driver is <strong>not<\/strong> currently implemented.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>ChkServd<\/em> \u2014 This driver monitors the services that you configure in the Service Manager interface.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>ChkServd<\/em> driver attempts to restart a service when it detects that the service fails.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>ChkServd<\/em> driver sends alerts about service failure, recovery, and timeouts to the contact information that you provide in WHM\u2019s <em>Basic WebHost Manager Setup<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; Basic WebHost Manager Setup<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Eximstats<\/em> \u2014 This driver tracks Exim mail statistics. The <em>Eximstats<\/em> driver maintains the email bandwidth logs, limits email usage, and populates data for the <em>Mail Delivery Reports<\/em> system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>JailManager<\/em> \u2014 This driver manages the jailshells that the <em>EXPERIMENTAL: Jail Apache Virtual Hosts using mod_ruid2 and cPanel\u00ae jailshell<\/em> setting in WHM\u2019s <em>Tweak Settings<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; Tweak Settings<\/em>) uses. The <em>JailManager<\/em> driver updates each user\u2019s jailshell with the <code>root<\/code> filesystem.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If the <em>EXPERIMENTAL: Jail Apache Virtual Hosts using mod_ruid2 and cPanel\u00ae jailshell<\/em> setting is disabled, the system disables the <em>JailManager<\/em> option.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>MailAuthOptimizer<\/em> \u2014 This driver is <strong>not<\/strong> currently implemented.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>MailHealth<\/em> \u2014 This driver monitors the mail log for the Dovecot mail services\u2019 memory status. The system administrator receives a message if Dovecot is out of memory.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>ModSecLog<\/em> \u2014 This driver parses the ModSecurity\u00ae audit log and stores the information in the <code>modsec<\/code> database.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>RecentAuthedMailIpTracker<\/em> \u2014 This driver tracks the IP addresses for recently-authenticated IMAP and POP3 sessions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cPBandwd<\/em> \u2014 This driver generates the bandwidth logs for the IMAP and POP3 mail services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"service-daemons\">Service daemons<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The server\u2019s installed services and the server\u2019s profile determine which daemons this interface displays.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>For more information about server profiles, read our How to Use Server Profiles documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>For more information about service status, read our <em>Service Status<\/em> documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><em>ClamAV Daemon<\/em> (<code>clamd<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon scans your server for malicious programs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>To install or uninstall ClamAV, use WHM\u2019s <em>Manage Plugins<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; cPanel &gt;&gt; Manage Plugins<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Calendar and Contacts Server (CCS) Plugin<\/em> (<code>cpanel-ccs<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon enables the Calendar and Contacts Server (CCS) plugin. The CCS plugin allows cPanel users to manage their CalDAV (calendar) and CardDAV (contacts) accounts from a cPanel &#038; WHM server. CCS becomes the main calendar and contacts tool when a WHM user installs the plugin. For more information about the CCS plugin, read our Calendar and Contacts Server documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The interface will <strong>not<\/strong> display this daemon until you install this plugin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>To install or uninstall the CCS plugin, use WHM\u2019s <em>Manage Plugins<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; cPanel &gt;&gt; Manage Plugins<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If this service stops, the <em>Z-Push &#8211; ActiveSync Support<\/em> plugin will also stop working.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cpanel-dovecot-solr<\/em> (<code>cpanel-dovecot-solr<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon enables IMAP Full-Text Search (FTS) Indexing (powered by Apache Solr\u2122), which provides fast search capabilities for IMAP mailboxes. For more information about this service, read our The install_dovecot_fts Script documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The interface will <strong>not<\/strong> display this service until you install this plugin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>To install or uninstall IMAP Full-Text Search (Powered by Apache Solr), use WHM\u2019s <em>Manage Plugins<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; cPanel &gt;&gt; Manage Plugins<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> and <em>DNS<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>PHP-FPM service for cPanel Daemons<\/em> (<code>cpanel_php_fpm<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon improves the performance of PHP-based internal applications that ship with cPanel &#038; WHM, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>phpMyAdmin<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>phpPgAdmin<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Webmail applications<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Any third-party PHP application that the user installs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>This daemon will accelerate a maximum of ten concurrent processes per user.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cPanel DAV Daemon<\/em> (<code>cpdavd<\/code>) \u2014  This daemon enables a set of HTTP extensions that allow users to manage their websites remotely.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If you plan to host other people\u2019s websites on your web server, do <strong>not<\/strong> disable this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> and <em>DNS<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cPanel Greylisting Daemon<\/em> (<code>cpgreylistd<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon manages Greylisting, a service that protects your server against spam from sources that your server does not recognize. For more information, read our Greylisting documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> and <em>DNS<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cPHulk Daemon<\/em> (<code>cphulkd<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon manages cPHulk Brute Force Protection, a service that provides protection for your server against brute force attacks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Cron Daemon<\/em> (<code>crond<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon manages cron job scheduling. For more information, read our Cron Jobs documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>cPanel DNS Admin Cache<\/em> (<code>dnsadmin<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon runs as a standalone daemon. This improves speed, but increases it memory usage. Deselect this option if you wish to use multiple <code>dnsadmin<\/code> processes for zone-related actions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Exim Mail Server<\/em> (<code>exim<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon is the part of your mail server that sends and receives mail. Enable this daemon if you plan to host other people\u2019s websites on your web server.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend that you monitor this feature.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em>, <em>DNS<\/em>, and <em>Mail<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Apache Web Server<\/em> (<code>httpd<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon processes HTTP requests from visitors. Enable this feature to host websites with your web server.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em>, <em>DNS<\/em>, and <em>Mail<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>IMAP Server<\/em> (<code>imap<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon for Dovecot processes how your users download their mail. For more information, read our IMAP vs. POP3 documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend that you monitor this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> and <em>DNS<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>IP Aliases<\/em> (<code>ipaliases<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon allows you to add more than one IP address to your network adapter. The system stores IP addresses that you add in WHM\u2019s <em>Add a New IP Address<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; IP Functions &gt;&gt; Add a New IP Address<\/em>) in the <code>\/etc\/ips<\/code> file. The <code>ipaliases<\/code> service activates those IP addresses when the server starts. Use this configuration to run multiple connections on a single network, where each connection serves an additional purpose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>LMTP Server<\/em> (<code>lmtp<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon allows Exim to connect to the Dovecot mail server.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Mailman<\/em> (<code>mailman<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon allows your users to create a single email address to send mail to multiple email addresses. For more information, read our Mailing Lists documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> and <em>DNS<\/em> server profiles <strong>disable<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The system does <strong>not<\/strong> start the Mailman service until the server hosts at least one mailing list.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>MySQL Server<\/em> (<code>mysql<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon processes database queries. If you plan to host any content management systems or applications that require a database, enable this daemon or the <em>PostgreSQL Server<\/em> daemon.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We recommend that you monitor this daemon. For more information, read our Nameserver Selection documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>Database<\/em> server profile <strong>disables<\/strong> this daemon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Name Service Cache Daemon<\/em> (<code>nscd<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon manages a cache for name service requests.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend that you <strong>only<\/strong> enable this service on servers with <strong>at least<\/strong> 1,000 MB of available memory.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>Passive OS Fingerprinting Daemon<\/em> (<code>p0f<\/code>) \u2014 This daemon reports the visitor\u2019s operating system and other information for email notifications that the system administrator requests in the <em>Contact Manager<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Contacts &gt;&gt; Contact Manager<\/em>). This information helps a system administrator quickly identify visitors that trigger events that cause alerts. The spam prevention and cPHulk systems use this information to identify potential spammers and brute force attacks. For example, if a user logs in to a server from multiple locations and uses multiple operating systems, this may indicate that someone has compromised the user\u2019s account. For more information about this daemon, read the Passive OS Fingerprinting documentation at GitHub.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If you disable this daemon, the notification footers will no longer contain the visitor information.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>POP3 Server<\/em> (<code>pop<\/code>) \u2014  This daemon processes how your users will download their mail.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend that you monitor this daemon.
