When you add other configuration files to existing configuration files, the system introduces new functionality.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n        Any changes that you make to the httpd.conf file can affect the default Apache configurations globally or between virtual hosts.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"edit-the-apache-configuration-file\">Edit the Apache configuration file<\/h2>\n<p>To add content to your Apache configuration file, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select one of the following options:\n<ul>\n<li><em>Pre Main Include<\/em> \u2014 Inserts your content at the beginning of the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file before the main configuration section. Use this option if you do not wish to overwrite any part of the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file.<\/li>\n<li><em>Pre VirtualHost Include<\/em> \u2014 Inserts your content in the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file before the first VirtualHost entry. Use this option to modify only a part of the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file before the system configures virtual hosts.<\/li>\n<li><em>Post VirtualHost Include<\/em> \u2014 Inserts your content in the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file after the last VirtualHost entry. Use this option to permanently modify a piece of the <code>httpd.conf<\/code> file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Use the <em>Select an Apache Version<\/em> menu to select whether you wish to apply your <code>Include<\/code> content to all versions of Apache, or only to your current version.\n<ul>\n<li>Select the appropriate version number for the system to overwrite your <code>Include<\/code> content when Apache updates.\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n        Use this option if you are unsure whether a future version of Apache will support your Include content.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Select All Versions<\/em> \u2014 Your <code>Include<\/code> content will apply to all of the future versions of Apache.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>After you select a version, a text box will appear. Enter your <code>Include<\/code> content in the available text box and click <em>Update<\/em>.\n<ul>\n<li>If you specify a directory in your <code>Include<\/code> content, the systems scan the directory. If the scan finds any configuration files, the system includes that directory in the affected files.
