For more information, read our How to Restore Missing FTP Interfaces in cPanel documentation.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>This interface is unavailable when you disable the FTP server role. Certain server profiles disable this role in WHM\u2019s <em>Server Profile<\/em> (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; Server Profile<\/em>). For more information, read our How to Use Server Profiles documentation.<\/li>\n<li>We disable FTP services by default because the FTP protocol sends clear-text usernames and passwords over public networks. It also does not enforce encryption, so third parties can attack the transmitted data. We recommend that you use transfer methods that use encryption, such as the <code>scp<\/code> command or cPanel\u2019s <em>File Manager<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Files &gt;&gt; File Manager<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-select-an-ftp-daemon\">How to select an FTP daemon<\/h2>\n<p>To select an FTP daemon for your server, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>In the FTP Server column, select <em>ProFTPD<\/em> or <em>Pure-FTPD<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select <em>Disabled<\/em> to disable FTP services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Save<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"pure-ftpd-and-proftpd\">Pure-FTPd and ProFTPD<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>We support Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol version 1.2.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We strongly recommend that you enable TLSv1.2 on your server.<\/li>\n<li>You can use TLSv1.1 or TLSv1.2 to manage your Pure-FTPd server.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>CentOS 8 removed support for the TCP Wrappers package (<code>tcp_wrappers<\/code>). This change means that ProFTPD does <strong>not<\/strong> use TCP-Wrappers-based access controls on AlmaLinux 8, CentOS 8, and CloudLinux\u2122 8 systems. The rest of ProFTPD\u2019s functionality still works in those operating systems. ProFTPD\u2019s functionality in cPanel &#038; WHM version 94 on CentOS 6 and 7, CloudLinux 6 and 7, and Red Hat\u00ae Enterprise Linux\u00ae 7 systems continues to use TCP-Wrappers-based access controls.<\/p>\n<p>For AlmaLinux 8, CentOS 8, CloudLinux 8, use the functionality available in WHM\u2019s <em>Host Access Control<\/em> interface.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The following list offers comparisons between these FTP server daemons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pure-FTPd typically provides faster FTP transfers than ProFTPD.<\/li>\n<li>Pure-FTPd does not display statistics in the statistics menu.<\/li>\n<li>Pure-FTPd supports virtual user quotas; ProFTPD does not.<\/li>\n<li>ProFTPD will display your bandwidth usage, allowing you to monitor the amount of bandwidth that FTP sessions use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, visit the ProFTPD and Pure-FTPd websites.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 94 through the latest version Version: 82 86 92 94 Overview This interface allows you to select an FTP server daemon, or to disable FTP services.
