We <strong>strongly<\/strong> recommend the following actions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Set up and <strong>only<\/strong> use the <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>) to configure your server backups.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>After you complete the above step, use the <em>Backup System Migration<\/em> interface to migrate existing legacy backups to the Backup system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"overview\">Overview<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>Backup System Migration<\/em> interface automatically converts and migrates any Legacy Backup system files to the current Backup system. The Backup system offers the same features as the Legacy Backup system and increases efficiency and performance for your system.<\/p>\n<p>We implemented the <em>Backup System Migration<\/em> interface in cPanel &#038; WHM version 64. We plan to remove the <em>Legacy Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>) from WHM in a future release.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"backup-system-conversion\">Backup system conversion<\/h2>\n<p>To convert and migrate your Legacy Backup system files to the Backup system, click <em>Migrate<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The Legacy Backup system <strong>only<\/strong> allows you to retain one retention point for incremental backups. The Backup system grants multiple retention points for incremental backups. When you migrate to the Backup system, you <strong>must<\/strong> update your retention point value in the <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>) or you will lose your existing backup. You can set this value in the <em>Retention<\/em> box under the Scheduling and Retention section in WHM\u2019s <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to use the maximum number of retention points, set your retention point value to <code>9999<\/code>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The system performs the following actions when you click <em>Migrate<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>The conversion and migration process creates the new <code>\/var\/cpanel\/backups\/config<\/code> file for the Backup system. This file duplicates the existing Legacy Backup configuration.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>After the system converts the Legacy Backup system files to the Backup system files, the system renames the Legacy Backup configuration file.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The new Legacy Backup configuration filename resembles the filename format <code>\/etc\/cpbackup.conf-1234567891234<\/code>, where the <code>1234567891234<\/code> value represents the number of seconds, in Unix epoch time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 82 through the latest version Version: 82 Important: The Backup System Migration interface only appears when backups exist under the legacy backup configuration.
