The skeleton directory allows you to easily copy the same files in to every new account\u2019s <code>public_html<\/code> and <code>public_ftp<\/code> directories when the system creates the account.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>When a visitor accesses <code>http:\/\/example.com\/<\/code>, they will see the contents of <code>example.com<\/code>\u2019s <code>public_html<\/code> directory.<\/li>\n<li>When a visitor accesses <code>http:\/\/example.com\/subdirectory<\/code>, they will see the contents of <code>example.com<\/code>\u2019s <code>public_html\/subdirectory<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>FTP users can download the contents of the <code>public_ftp<\/code> directory.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"create-a-skeleton-directory\">Create a skeleton directory<\/h2>\n<p>To set up your skeleton directory, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Plan and create the content that you wish to supply for your new users.<\/li>\n<li>Place the appropriate files and subdirectories in the appropriate directory:\n<ul>\n<li><code>\/root\/cpanel3-skel\/public_html<\/code> \u2014 A skeleton directory for the <code>root<\/code> user.<\/li>\n<li><code>\/home\/reseller\/cpanel3-skel\/public_html<\/code> \u2014 A skeleton directory for a reseller, where <code>home<\/code> represents the name of the <code>home<\/code> partition, and <code>reseller<\/code> represents the reseller\u2019s username.\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The system copies these files to the new accounts\u2019 <code>public_html<\/code> directories when it creates accounts.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Place the appropriate FTP-related files in the appropriate directory:\n<ul>\n<li><code>\/root\/cpanel3-skel\/public_ftp<\/code> \u2014 A skeleton FTP directory for the <code>root<\/code> user.<\/li>\n<li><code>\/home\/reseller\/cpanel3-skel\/public_ftp<\/code> \u2014 A skeleton FTP directory for a reseller, where <code>home<\/code> represents the name of the <code>home<\/code> partition, and <code>reseller<\/code> represents the reseller\u2019s username.\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The new user can access these files via an FTP client.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 82 through the latest version Version: 82 Overview This interface displays the location of the skeleton directory.
