{"id":749,"date":"2021-07-23T12:37:18","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T12:37:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/how-to-view-a-delegated-calendar-on-roundcube\/"},"modified":"2021-07-23T12:37:18","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T12:37:18","slug":"how-to-view-a-delegated-calendar-on-roundcube","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/how-to-view-a-delegated-calendar-on-roundcube\/","title":{"rendered":"How to View a Delegated Calendar on Roundcube"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-md-9\">\n<div class=\"flex-column flex-md-row article-header\"><\/div>\n<hr>\n<h2 id=\"overview\">Overview<\/h2>\n<p>This document explains how to set up a delegated calendar through Roundcube 1.4.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"prerequisites\">Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>This guide assumes that you have already set up at least one calendar delegate in cPanel\u2019s <em>Calendar Delegation<\/em> (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Email &gt;&gt; Calendar Delegation<\/em>) interface.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>Calendar Delegation<\/em> feature only appears if your hosting provider enables the Calendar and Contacts Server plugin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>This feature is not available for Exchange ActiveSync.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-view-a-delegated-calendar-on-roundcube\">How to View a Delegated Calendar on Roundcube<\/h2>\n<p>In order to view a delegated calendar on Roundcube, you must add the calendar owner\u2019s calendar to the delegate\u2019s Roundcube account. To do so, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"get-the-calendar-owner-s-calendar-url\">Get the calendar owner\u2019s calendar URL<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to the calendar owner\u2019s Webmail account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ensure that you are in the <em>Webmail<\/em> interface.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>If this is the first log in, the <em>Webmail<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If you are in the Roundcube interface, click <em>cPanel Webmail Home<\/em>. The <em>Webmail<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under the <em>Edit Your Settings<\/em> section in the <em>Webmail<\/em> interface, click <em>Configure Calendar and Contacts Client<\/em>. The <em>Calendar and Contacts<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Scroll to the <em>Direct URLs for Calendars and Contacts<\/em> section. Find the <em>Calendar<\/em> row in the <em>Secure SSL\/TLS URLs<\/em> table.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Copy the URL under the <em>URL<\/em> column for the <em>Calendar<\/em> item in the table.<br \/>\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/calendars-and-contacts-direct-urls.jpg\" width=\"900\" title=\"calendars-and-contacts-direct-urls\"><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"add-the-calendar-owner-s-calendar-to-the-delegate-s-roundcube-calendar\">Add the calendar owner\u2019s calendar to the delegate\u2019s Roundcube calendar<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to the calendar delegate\u2019s Webmail account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ensure that you are in the <em>Roundcube<\/em> interface.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>If this is the first log in, the <em>Webmail<\/em> interface will appear. If Roundcube is your default webmail client, you can click the Roundcube logo under the <em>Open your inbox<\/em> section. Otherwise, you can select the Roundcube logo from the <em>Change your webmail client<\/em> section. The Roundcube interface will appear.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To open your Inbox every time that you log in to Webmail, select the <em>Open my inbox when I log in<\/em> checkbox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the Roundcube interface, click <em>Calendar<\/em> on the left menu. The calendar interface will appear.<br \/>\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/roundcube-1-4-calendar-button-1.png\" width=\"900\" title=\"roundcube-1-4-calendar-button-1\"><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the Roundcube <em>Calendar<\/em> interface, navigate to <em>Calendars<\/em> at the top of the interface. Click the menu ( <img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/roundcube-1-4-calendar-menu-1.png\" width=\"20\" title=\"roundcube-1-4-calendar-menu-1\"> ) icon. A menu will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Select <img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/roundcube-1-4-calendar-add-button-1.png\" width=\"20\" title=\"roundcube-1-4-calendar-add-button-1\"> <em>Add Calendar<\/em> from the menu. The <em>Create new calendar<\/em> interface will appear.<br \/>\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/roundcube-1-4-calendar-add-1.png\" width=\"900\" title=\"roundcube-1-4-calendar-add-1\"><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the <em>Properties<\/em> section, enter the calendar owner\u2019s calendar name in the <em>Name<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Paste the calendar owner\u2019s calendar URL (that you copied in step 5 from the previous section) in the <em>CalDAV URL<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Adjust the calendar color and whether to show reminders in the <em>Settings<\/em> section.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under <em>Authentication<\/em>, enter the username and password of the <strong>calendar delegate<\/strong> CalDAV digest. This is the same as their Webmail username and password.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/roundcube-1-4-calendar-properties-1.png\" width=\"900\" title=\"roundcube-1-4-calendar-properties-1\"><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Save<\/em>. The Roundcube <em>Calendar<\/em> interface will automatically upload the calendar owner\u2019s calendar.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>You will see calendar events for the current week.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-test-the-calendar-delegation\">How to test the calendar delegation<\/h2>\n<p>To test the delegation, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Have the calendar owner create an event on their calendar. The calendar delegate should be able to view the event from their own Roundcube <em>Calendar<\/em> interface.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Calendar delegates with permission to edit the calendar can perform the following actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Edit an event<\/strong> \u2014 Click the event. A window will appear with the event details. Click <em>Edit<\/em> to edit the event.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Add an event<\/strong> \u2014 Double click anywhere on the calendar. A <em>New event<\/em> interface will appear. Fill out the relevant information. Ensure that the user selects the calendar owner\u2019s calendar from the <em>Calendar<\/em> menu in that window. Once completed, click <em>Save<\/em>.
