This document describes how to install WHMCS on your cPanel account. You can purchase a license for WHMCS in the cPanel store. For more about managing WHMCS, read the WHMCS documentation.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"install-as-site-software-cpanel-and-whm-version-86-and-later\">Install as Site Software (cPanel and WHM version 86 and later)<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>Your hosting provider must enable this cPAddon in WHM\u2019s <em>Install cPAddons Site Software<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; cPanel &gt;&gt; Install cPAddons Site Software<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"one-click-installation\">One-click installation<\/h3>\n<p>For the one-click installations, log in to your cPanel account and perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The one-click installation requires you to setup a contact email address in cPanel\u2019s <em>Contact Information<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Preferences &gt;&gt; Contact Information<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to cPanel\u2019s <em>Site Software<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; Site Software<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under <em>Automation<\/em>, click <em>WHMCS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under the <em>Install<\/em> tab, select a domain from the <em>Installation Domain<\/em> menu. The system will check whether the domain has a WHMCS license.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>If the domain owns a license, click <em>Install<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If you posses a license for the domain, but the system does not detect it, click <em>Enter a license manually<\/em>. Enter your WHMCS license in the <em>License Key<\/em> text box and click <em>Install<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the domain does not posses a license, click <em>Buy License<\/em>. The system will connect to the cPanel Store so you can buy a license. After your purchase, the cPanel Store will return you to the <em>Site Software<\/em> interface. Then, click <em>Install<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>After the installation completes, the interface will provide a success message, the username, password, and the WHMCS administration URL.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"advance-configuration-installations\">Advance configuration installations<\/h3>\n<p>For advanced configuration installations, log in to your cPanel account and perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to cPanel\u2019s <em>Site Software<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; Site Software<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under <em>Automation<\/em>, click <em>WHMCS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under the <em>Install<\/em> tab, select a domain from the <em>Installation Domain<\/em> menu. The system will check whether the domain has a WHMCS license.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Show Advanced Configuration<\/em>. The interface will display additional configuration options.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>If you have not entered an email address in cPanel\u2019s <em>Contact Information<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt;Home &gt;&gt; Preferences &gt;&gt; Contact Information<\/em>), the interface will automatically display the advanced configuration options.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If you posses a license for the domain, but the system does not detect it, click <em>Enter a license manually<\/em>. Enter your WHMCS license in the <em>License Key<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <em>Advanced Configuration<\/em> feature does not support the <em>Buy License<\/em> option. You can visit the cPanel Store in a new browser window to purchase a WHMCS license.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Under <em>Installation URL<\/em>, enter a directory path. To install directly to the domain\u2019s document root, leave the text box blank.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter an administrator username in the <em>Admin User<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>The system evaluates the password that you enter on a scale of 100 points. <code>0<\/code> indicates a weak password, while <code>100<\/code> indicates a very secure password.<\/li>\n<li>Some web hosts require a minimum password strength. A green password <em>Strength<\/em> meter indicates that the password is equal to or greater than the required password strength.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Password Generator<\/em> to generate a strong password. For more information, read our Password and Security documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter your email address in the <em>Email<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Install<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>After the installation completes, the interface will provide a success message and the WHMCS administration URL. When you browse to the URL, you can log in with the username and password you provide during the installation process. The WHMCS interface will prompt you to agree to the license agreement and then prompt you to enter your license key. If you need a license key, you can purchase one from the the cPanel store.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"install-whmcs-manually\">Install WHMCS Manually<\/h2>\n<p>Before you install WHMCS, you will need to install ionCube\u00ae and set up your database.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To install ionCube, follow the directions in our PHP Loader: ionCube 6 documentation.<\/li>\n<li>After you install ionCube, follow the instructions in our MySQL Database Wizard documentation to set up your database.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"install-whmcs\">Install WHMCS<\/h3>\n<p>To install WHMCS, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to the Download WHMCS website.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter you license key in the text box and click <em>Validate and Download<\/em>. The system will download a <code>.zip<\/code> file that contains the WHMCS files.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Unzip the contents of the <code>.zip<\/code> file to a folder on your computer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the WHMCS folder, rename the <code>configuration.php.new<\/code> file to <code>configuration.php<\/code>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Upload the WHMCS folder to your website. You may rename the folder, if desired.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-danger\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Warning:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>You cannot use the name admin for the WHMCS folder. The administration directory uses admin as a name.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If the system returns an error, upload the file in binary mode.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to <code>example.com\/whmcs\/install\/install.php<\/code>, where <code>example.com<\/code> represents your domain. If you uploaded the WHMCS files to a directory other than <code>public_html<\/code>, paste that path after your domain name in the URL.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Follow the instructions to complete the installation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Change the permissions on the directories. To do this, run the following commands:\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"highlight\">\n<pre style=\"color:#f8f8f2;background-color:#272822;-moz-tab-size:4;-o-tab-size:4;tab-size:4\"><code class=\"language-BASH\" data-lang=\"BASH\">chmod <span style=\"color:#ae81ff\">400<\/span> configuration.php\nchmod <span style=\"color:#ae81ff\">777<\/span> attachments\nchmod <span style=\"color:#ae81ff\">777<\/span> downloads\nchmod <span style=\"color:#ae81ff\">777<\/span> templates_c<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to the directory where you uploaded WHMCS and delete the <code>install<\/code> directory.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to your WHMCS account with your license key.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview WHMCS offers an all-in-one billing and automation platform that automates all aspects of a web hosting business.
