LiteSpeed reads Apache configuration files directly and is compatible with the Apache <code>.htaccess<\/code> and <code>mod_security<\/code> rules. You can purchase a LiteSpeed Web Server license from the cPanel Store within WHM\u2019s <em>EasyApache 4<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; EasyApache 4<\/em>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>This document is for cPanel &#038; WHM 78 and later. To install LiteSpeed Web Server in cPanel &#038; WHM version 76 and earlier, follow the directions in LiteSpeed\u2019s Auto-installer documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>LiteSpeed Web Server uses the <code>lsphp<\/code> binary. It does <strong>not<\/strong> use the system\u2019s PHP-FPM implementation in WHM\u2019s <em>MultiPHP Manager<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; MultiPHP Manager<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hosting providers can disable the LiteSpeed Web Server banner for their licensed servers from Manage2\u2019s <em>Update Company Information<\/em> interface (<em>Manage2 &gt;&gt; Company &gt;&gt; Update Company Information<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The LiteSpeed Web Server is <strong>not<\/strong> compatible with the <code>mod_status<\/code> Apache module. When you install LiteSpeed Web Server, WHM\u2019s <em>Apache Status<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Status &gt;&gt; Apache Status<\/em>) will no longer function. Instead, use the <em>LiteSpeed Web Console<\/em> interface to check the server\u2019s status. Also, the system will report <code>file not found<\/code> errors for the <code>\/var\/www\/html\/whm-server-status<\/code> file in the Apache log file.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>When you purchase LiteSpeed Web Server through the WHM interface, the following actions occur:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>You receive a LiteSpeed Web Server license.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The system installs your new LiteSpeed Web Server and configures itself to use the LiteSpeed Web Server.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The system switches from the Apache web server to LiteSpeed Web Server.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>LiteSpeed Web Server replaces Apache on ports 80 and 443, which replaces Apache on your system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"choosing-a-license-tier\">Choosing a license tier<\/h2>\n<p>cPanel, L.L.C. offers the following two custom LiteSpeed Web Server license tiers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>LiteSpeed 8GB<\/em> \u2014 Includes 8GB RAM limit and one worker process.<\/li>\n<li><em>LiteSpeed Unlimited<\/em> \u2014 Includes unlimited RAM and three worker processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"ram-limit\">RAM limit<\/h3>\n<p>The RAM limit applies to the server or virtual private server (VPS). If your server\u2019s physical memory is greater than 8GB, then you <strong>must<\/strong> use <em>LiteSpeed Unlimited<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"worker-process\">Worker process<\/h3>\n<p>The number of workers determines how many processes LiteSpeed Web Server uses, limiting the CPU resource needs. There is one LiteSpeed Web Server process per worker.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"purchase-license\">Purchase license<\/h2>\n<p>To purchase a LiteSpeed Web Server license and install LiteSpeed Web Server on your cPanel &#038; WHM server, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"initiate-the-license-purchase-process\">Initiate the license purchase process<\/h3>\n<p>On the server for which you wish to purchase a LiteSpeed Web Server license, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to WHM as the <code>root<\/code> user or as a reseller account with <code>root<\/code>-level privileges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to WHM\u2019s <em>EasyApache 4<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; EasyApache 4<\/em>). The <em>LiteSpeed Web Server<\/em> banner will appear at the top of the interface.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The interface will display a license offer appropriate for your server\u2019s hardware:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><em>LiteSpeed Web Server &#8211; 8GB License<\/em> \u2014 For Cloud-licensed servers with less than 8GB of RAM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><em>LiteSpeed Web Server &#8211; Unlimited License<\/em> \u2014 For Metal-licensed servers and Cloud-licensed servers with more than 8GB of RAM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the license offer. A new interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If the <em>LiteSpeed Web Server<\/em> banner does <strong>not<\/strong> appear in WHM\u2019s <em>EasyApache 4<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; EasyApache 4<\/em>), one of the following conditions exists on your server:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>You already own a LiteSpeed Web Server license in the cPanel Store.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>LiteSpeed Web Server is already installed on your server.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Your hosting provider disabled LiteSpeed Web Server purchases.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"log-in-to-the-cpanel-store\">Log in to the cPanel Store<\/h3>\n<p>If you have already logged in to your cPanel Store account, the system will request access to this account. Verify that the interface displays the correct cPanel Store username and server name, and then click <em>Allow Access<\/em>. A new interface will appear.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>To log in as a different cPanel Store account, click <em>Sign In as a Different User<\/em> and perform the necessary steps to log in to the desired cPanel Store account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"verify-and-complete-your-purchase\">Verify and complete your purchase<\/h3>\n<p>When you buy a LiteSpeed Web Server license through the WHM interface, you <strong>must<\/strong> choose between a Metal or Cloud license type. Currently, you can <strong>only<\/strong> buy monthly licenses through the WHM interface. The system will automatically detect the IPv4 address to license. Verify your license order, accept the legal agreements, enter or select the desired payment information, and then click <em>Pay Now<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>After the cPanel Store successfully processes your order, a confirmation message will appear. You will also receive an invoice email from the cPanel Store.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the cPanel Store experiences problems with your order, an error message will appear. Also, you may receive emails from cPanel Customer Service to help you resolve the issue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"installation\">Installation<\/h3>\n<p>After you complete the purchase, your server will automatically download and install LiteSpeed Web Server. The <em>LiteSpeed Web Server Installation<\/em> interface will appear. This interface shows the installation\u2019s progress. It also displays an administrator username and password.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>You <strong>must<\/strong> record this username and password. The <em>LiteSpeed Web Console<\/em> in the <em>LiteSpeed Plugin<\/em> interface requires the username and password to log in.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>When the installation finishes, click <em>Continue to LiteSpeed Plugin<\/em> to access WHM\u2019s <em>LiteSpeed Plugin<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Plugins &gt;&gt; LiteSpeed Plugin<\/em>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>To switch between LiteSpeed Web Server and Apache, use the <em>LiteSpeed Web Server<\/em> plugin interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Plugins &gt;&gt; LiteSpeed Plugin<\/em>). For more information, read LiteSpeed\u2019s cPanel Plugin documentation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>After you successfully purchase a license, the <em>LiteSpeed Web Server<\/em> banner will no longer appear in WHM\u2019s <em>EasyApache 4<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Software &gt;&gt; EasyApache 4<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"find-your-litespeed-web-server-serial-number\">Find your LiteSpeed Web Server serial number<\/h2>\n<p>To find your LiteSpeed Web Server serial number, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to the cPanel Store.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Account Log In<\/em>. The <em>Sign In<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to your cPanel Store account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Manage Licenses<\/em>. The <em>Manage Licenses<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Scroll down to your LiteSpeed Web Server license.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click the caret icon (<img src=\"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/caret.png\" width=\"20\" title=\"caret\">). The <em>Actions<\/em> menu will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>View Serial<\/em>.
