{"id":500,"date":"2021-07-23T12:31:36","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T12:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/how-to-purchase-a-kernelcare-license\/"},"modified":"2021-07-23T12:31:36","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T12:31:36","slug":"how-to-purchase-a-kernelcare-license","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssdsunucum.com\/blog\/how-to-purchase-a-kernelcare-license\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Purchase a KernelCare License"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-md-9\">\n<div class=\"flex-column flex-md-row article-header\"><\/div>\n<hr>\n<h2 id=\"overview\">Overview<\/h2>\n<p>KernelCare automatically updates your system\u2019s Linux\u00ae kernel without the need for a reboot. cPanel &#038; WHM servers allow you to purchase a license for KernelCare from WHM\u2019s <em>Security Advisor<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Security Center &gt;&gt; Security Advisor<\/em>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Before you purchase and install KernelCare, make certain that your system possesses a compatible kernel. To do this, read the KernelCare documentation.<\/li>\n<li>To install and run KernelCare, you <strong>must<\/strong> disable Secure Boot if you enabled Secure Boot previously.<\/li>\n<li>You can <strong>only<\/strong> install KernelCare on systems that run one of the following operating systems:\n<ul>\n<li>CentOS 6, 7 and 8.<\/li>\n<li>Red Hat\u00ae Enterprise Linux\u00ae (RHEL) 6 and 7.<\/li>\n<li>CloudLinux\u2122 6, 7 and 8.<\/li>\n<li>AlmaLinux 8.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the latest information about the operating systems that cPanel, L.L.C. supports, read our Installation Guide documentation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>Hosting providers can configure whether this option sends the purchaser to the provider\u2019s custom URL, an email address, or the cPanel Store. They can also disable the banner for their licensed servers from Manage2\u2019s <em>Update Company Information<\/em> interface (<em>Manage2 &gt;&gt; Company &gt;&gt; Update Company Information<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"purchase-license\">Purchase license<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"purchase-from-whm\">Purchase from WHM<\/h3>\n<h4 id=\"initiate-the-license-purchase-process\">Initiate the license purchase process.<\/h4>\n<p>On the server for which you wish to purchase a KernelCare license, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to WHM as the <code>root<\/code> user or as a reseller account with <code>root<\/code>-level privileges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Navigate to WHM\u2019s <em>Security Advisor<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Security Center &gt;&gt; Security Advisor<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the <em>Upgrade to KernelCare<\/em> alert, click <em>Get KernelCare for $<\/em>, where <em>$<\/em> represents the monthly price of the KernelCare license. The cPanel Store will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>If the <em>KernelCare Security<\/em> alert does <strong>not<\/strong> appear in the list of security alerts, one of the following conditions exists on your server:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your server does not support KernelCare (for example, servers that run Amazon Linux).<\/li>\n<li>Your system\u2019s kernel is unsupported.<\/li>\n<li>You enabled Secure Boot.<\/li>\n<li>Your hosting provider has disabled KernelCare purchases.<\/li>\n<li>A KernelCare trial license currently exists on your server.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4 id=\"log-in-to-the-cpanel-store\">Log in to the cPanel Store.<\/h4>\n<p>If you have already logged in to your cPanel Store account, the system will request access to this account. Verify that the interface displays the correct cPanel Store username and server name, and then click <em>Allow Access<\/em>. A new interface will appear.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>To log in as a different cPanel Store account, click <em>Sign In as a Different User<\/em>. Then, perform the necessary steps to log in to the desired cPanel Store account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4 id=\"verify-and-complete-your-purchase\">Verify and complete your purchase.<\/h4>\n<p>When you buy a KernelCare license through the WHM interface, the system automatically selects the appropriate license type for your server. It also detects the IPv4 address to license. Currently, you can <strong>only<\/strong> purchase monthly licenses through the WHM interface. Verify your license order, accept the legal agreements, enter or select the desired payment information, and then click <em>Pay Now<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>After the cPanel Store processes your order, a confirmation message will appear. You will receive an invoice email from the cPanel Store. After you successfully purchase a license, the <em>KernelCare License<\/em> banner will no longer display in the WHM interface.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the cPanel Store experiences problems with your order, an error message will appear. You may receive emails from cPanel Customer Service to help you resolve the issue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 id=\"installation\">Installation<\/h4>\n<p>Your server will automatically download and install KernelCare. To verify this, navigate to WHM\u2019s <em>Security Advisor<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Security Center &gt;&gt; Security Advisor<\/em>) again and the KernelCare notice will confirm that the installation succeeded.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"purchase-from-manage2\">Purchase from Manage2<\/h3>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p><strong>Only<\/strong> cPanel Partners may purchase a KernelCare licenses through Manage2.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4 id=\"log-in-to-manage2\">Log in to Manage2.<\/h4>\n<p>Log in to your Manage2 account, and then navigate to the <em>Add License<\/em> interface (<em>Dashboard &gt;&gt; Licenses &gt;&gt; Add License<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"enter-the-required-license-information\">Enter the required license information.<\/h4>\n<p>In Manage2\u2019s <em>Add License<\/em> interface (<em>Dashboard &gt;&gt; Licenses &gt;&gt; Add License<\/em>), use the available text boxes and menus to specify the server\u2019s IP address, group, license type and term. Then, click <em>Add License<\/em>. A confirmation message will appear.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"invoice-and-installation\">Invoice and installation<\/h4>\n<p>KernelCare is now ready to install. For instructions on how to install KernelCare, read our How to Install KernelCare documentation.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"purchase-from-the-cpanel-store\">Purchase from the cPanel Store<\/h3>\n<h4 id=\"log-in-to-the-cpanel-store-1\">Log in to the cPanel Store.<\/h4>\n<p>Log in to your cPanel Store account, and then navigate to the <em>Extensions<\/em> interface (<em>Solutions &gt;&gt; Extensions<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"add-kernelcare-to-your-cart\">Add KernelCare to your cart.<\/h4>\n<p>You <strong>must<\/strong> add KernelCare to your cart with selections for your license type and valid IP address. To do this, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Under the <em>KernelCare<\/em> section, click <em>Add to Cart<\/em>. The <em>Configure Your Order<\/em> interface will appear. KernelCare will appear in your cart.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter your valid IP address in the <em>Enter IP Address<\/em> text box. <em>Review and Checkout<\/em> will turn blue after you configure all items in your cart.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 id=\"complete-your-purchase\">Complete your purchase<\/h4>\n<p>To complete your purchase, perform the following steps<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Review and Checkout<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enter your credit card information.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can select a previously used credit card in the <em>Pay with existing card<\/em> menu or enter a new credit card in the <em>Pay with a new card<\/em> text box.<\/li>\n<li>If this is a new cPanel Store account, the system will prompt you to enter your credit card information.\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>To buy a monthly license, you <strong>must<\/strong> store a credit card on file <strong>and<\/strong> set a primary credit card. If you have not set a primary credit card, you can enter the credit card you want to use and select <em>Store Credit Card on File<\/em> and <em>Set as Primary Credit Card<\/em> from the cart. cPanel will charge this card every month.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Read and agree to the cPanel &#038; WHM Pricing and Term Agreement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Purchase Now<\/em>. The <em>Invoice<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To print this invoice for your records, click <em>Print Page<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 id=\"installation-1\">Installation.<\/h4>\n<p>After you complete your purchase, you will get a confirmation email. The email will include KernelCare\u2019s installation instructions.
