Mail filters allow you to control which email messages your server delivers.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"create-a-mail-filter-rule\">Create a mail filter rule<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mailman\u2019s <em>Spam Filters<\/em> feature <strong>requires<\/strong> that you enable spam filters. To enable Apache SpamAssassin\u2122 for your cPanel account, select <em>Enable Apache SpamAssassin<\/em> in cPanel\u2019s <em>Spam Filters<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Email &gt;&gt; Spam Filters<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>Generally, the recipient does <strong>not<\/strong> receive the <code>BCC<\/code> field in an email\u2019s header. For this reason, you <strong>cannot<\/strong> use the <code>BCC<\/code> field in a filter.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>To control which email messages your server delivers to your mailing lists, use Mailman\u2019s <em>Spam filters<\/em> interface. To create a mail filter rule with the <em>Header filters<\/em> section of the <em>Spam filters<\/em> interface, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Access Mailman\u2019s <em>Spam filters<\/em> interface. To do this, perform the follow steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to cPanel\u2019s <em>Mailing Lists<\/em> interface (<em>cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Email &gt;&gt; Mailing Lists<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Manage<\/em> for the mailing list that you wish to edit. A new interface will appear.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Configuration Categories<\/em> section at the top, click <em>Privacy options<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Spam filters<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In the <em>Spam Filter Rule 1<\/em> text box, enter a regular expression (regex) that matches the messages to which to apply an action. For example:<\/p>\n<pre><code>X-Spam-Status:s+Yes\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Notes:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>This example applies to any message that SpamAssassin scores as spam.<\/li>\n<li>The number of plus sign characters (<code>+<\/code>) indicates the Apache SpamAssassin spam score.<\/li>\n<li>Apache SpamAssassin adds information to the header of each mail message that it reviews. You can use this information to determine which mail filter rules to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Next to <em>Action:<\/em>, select the action for Mailman to perform on the messages that match the filter. You can select the following settings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Defer<\/em> \u2014 Disable the filter rule.<\/li>\n<li><em>Hold<\/em> \u2014 Hold the messages that match the filter rule until a moderator approves it.<\/li>\n<li><em>Reject<\/em> \u2014 Reject the messages that match the filter rule.<\/li>\n<li><em>Discard<\/em> \u2014 Delete the messages that match the filter rule.<\/li>\n<li><em>Accept<\/em> \u2014 Accept the messages that match the filter rule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Click <em>Submit Your Changes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"legacy-anti-spam-filters\">Legacy anti-spam filters<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>A moderator of the mailing list <strong>must<\/strong> approve the messages that match any spam filters in the <em>Legacy anti-spam filters<\/em> section of the <em>Spam filters<\/em> interface.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>To create a mail filter rule with the <em>Legacy anti-spam filters<\/em> section of Apache SpamAssassin\u2019s <em>Spam filters<\/em> interface, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <em>Legacy anti-spam filters<\/em> text box, enter the header information to filter.<\/li>\n<li>Click <em>Submit Your Changes<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview This document explains how to create mail filter rules in cPanel\u2019s Mailing Lists interface (cPanel &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Email &gt;&gt; Mailing Lists).
