Overview<\/h2>\n

This document describes how to manually delete a MySQL\u00ae database from a cPanel & WHM server. This is useful if, for example, you converted your MySQL databases to a different database type, such as PostgreSQL\u00ae or SQLite.<\/p>\n

  • We strongly<\/strong> suggest that you first try to delete databases through cPanel\u2019s MySQL\u00ae Databases<\/em> interface. If you manually delete a cPanel user\u2019s database, the database map will become corrupt. This will cause errors and failures in backups because the system cannot properly remove outdated backups.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Delete MySQL database<\/h2>\n

    To delete a MySQL database, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n

    1. \n

      Log in to the WHM interface as the root<\/code> user.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      Navigate to the SQL Services<\/em> section (WHM >> Home >> SQL Services<\/em>) and click phpMyAdmin<\/em>. The phpMyAdmin<\/em> interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      In the far-left column, select the database that you wish to delete.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      At the top of the interface, click Operations<\/em>. A new interface will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    5. \n

      Under the Remove database<\/em> heading, click Drop the database (DROP)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    6. \n

      Click OK<\/em> to confirm that you wish to delete the database. A success message will appear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    7. \n

      If a cPanel user owned the database, navigate to cPanel\u2019s MySQL\u00ae Databases<\/em> interface and delete the database\u2019s entry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
