If you have disabled the <em>Retain Backups in the Default Backup Directory<\/em> setting, you can restore a remote backup through WHM\u2019s <em>Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Transfers &gt;&gt; Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>WHM\u2019s <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>) allows you and your users to store backup files in locations that you configured with the <em>Additional Destinations<\/em> options. This includes the following destinations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amazon S3\u2122<\/li>\n<li>FTP<\/li>\n<li>Google Drive\u2122<\/li>\n<li>S3 Compatible<\/li>\n<li>SFTP<\/li>\n<li>WebDAV<\/li>\n<li>A local directory<\/li>\n<li>Custom locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To restore backups from these locations, users <strong>must<\/strong> transfer the backup file to their servers before they can restore the backups.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-transfer-the-backup-file\">How to transfer the backup file<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>You <strong>must<\/strong> manually transfer the backup files from the remote location to your server. However, after you transfer the backup files to the server, WHM\u2019s <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> feature handles the actual restoration.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>To transfer a backup file from a remote location to your server, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use your preferred tool to access the additional destination that you created with the <em>Additional Destinations<\/em> options in WHM\u2019s <em>Backup Configuration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration<\/em>). For example, you can use an FTP client to access an FTP destination.<\/li>\n<li>Locate your desired backup files and transfer them to your local computer.<\/li>\n<li>Place the backup files in the appropriate backup directory on your server.\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>The backup directories on your server will resemble the <code>BACKUPDIR\/yyyy-mm-dd\/accounts<\/code> format, where:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code>BACKUPDIR<\/code> is the variable from the <code>\/var\/cpanel\/backups\/config<\/code> file.<\/li>\n<li><code>yyyy<\/code> is the four-digit year, <code>mm<\/code> is the month, and <code>dd<\/code> is the day of the month.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>WHM\u2019s <em>Backup Restoration<\/em> interface (<em>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Restoration<\/em>) will now display the backup files under the appropriate account and date.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valid for versions 88 through the latest version Version: 82 88 Overview Important: To use this feature, you must enable account backups and the Retain Backups in the Default Backup Directory setting in WHM\u2019s Backup Configuration interface (WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Backup &gt;&gt; Backup Configuration).
